Shhh…this article is for brides only, so if you’re a groom, maid of honour, best man, bridesmaid, mother of the bride, or anyone other than the BRIDE, this is your chance to close the page and move on. Because we’re going to share some insight and words of wisdom, exclusively for brides, on how to make your wedding day stress free and spectacular.

Isn’t that the dream? A relaxed day where everything unrolls as it should, and you spend your day celebrating your nuptials with family and friends instead of stressing about the details.

At Temple’s Country Weddings, we’re here to lighten our brides’ wedding loads. For us, it’s the little things that make the biggest difference for our brides and grooms, the special touches that take their day from ordinary to extraordinary. And we love to provide those touches!

Read on for some bridal words of wisdom from the experts and say “I do” with a lighter heart.

  1. Yes, it’s only a day – but it’s YOUR day

The closer you come to your wedding day, the more you’ll hear people say things like “It’s just a day” or “Remember, it’s just one day out of the rest of your life.” While these statements are true in theory, the fact is that most brides have been dreaming of their wedding day for as long as they can remember. It may be true that it’s just one day, but it’s also the first day of your new life with you and your partner. So, the next time someone tells you to calm down, that it’s ‘just a day,’ remember to bite your tongue and think to yourself, yes, but it’s my day.

  1. Find the venue that says “you”

Finding the perfect spot to say “I do” is harder than it may sound, but this decision is one of the most important you can make for your wedding. You want to find a venue that has an atmosphere where you can be comfortable, where you and your partner feel at home. Indoors, outdoors, formal, informal…there is no right answer, but once you’ve settled on a location, you’re halfway to a fantastic and stress-free wedding. At Temple’s Country Weddings, we specialize in creating unforgettable memories in a country chic atmosphere where our brides and grooms feel like they’re part of the family.

  1.  Don’t sweat the small stuff

There’s a reason why “don’t sweat the small stuff” has become a popular way to express the same sentiment we all know to be true, but often forget. The closer you get to the big day, the more you’ll start to drill down into smaller and smaller details from flowers to the colour of your cocktail napkins, and eventually you’ll swear that each of these details could make or break your wedding day. That’s when you need to remember not to sweat the small stuff. At the end of the day it’s just you, your groom, and your friends and family – everything else is just icing on the big fat wedding cake.

  1. Decisions, decisions (or how to make so many)

When you’re planning a wedding there are so many decisions to be made from day one until the big day, and every day in between. Everything from where to host your wedding, what kind of flowers to choose, what colour scheme you would like, veil or no veil, and of course, all the decisions to be made about THE DRESS. And let’s face it, while grooms can be front and centre in the decision-making department, this role often falls to the bride. With so many decisions on the horizon, you can easily get decision burnout, and here’s the best way to avoid the burnout: DON’T MAKE SO MANY DECISIONS. Delegate some decision-making as much as possible, bring in family and friends who you trust to do a good job, and let them help lighten your decision load. Believe me, it will make your special day so much sweeter when you see firsthand how much your loved ones have stepped forward, making them truly a part of your special day.

  1. Don’t worry about etiquette – you’re the boss

Once you start researching weddings, you’ll find a lot of information out there about what you “should” do. Everything from where family for the bride or groom should be seated, to whether or not to have a dinner reception, and how old you need to be to be in a wedding party. Here’s the secret you need to know about etiquette: it doesn’t matter. Seriously. All the rules relating to who can do what and sit where don’t mean anything anymore. The truth is, as the bride you can make up your own rules as you go. You are quite literally the boss.
